North Korean Ballistic Missiles May Be Launched To Hawaii On Independence Day 4th Of July

North Korea is planning to shoot their ballistic missiles towards Hawaii on American Independence Day 4th of July. This reports is submitted by the Japanese daily, Yomiuri Shinbun, based on the analysis of Japan's defense ministry.

The missiles, believed to be a Taepodong-2 with a range of up to 4,000 miles, and estimated to be launched in early July from the Dongchang-ni site on the north-western coast of the secretive country.

Yomiuri Shinbun published that analysis after the U.S. officials and South Korea says that North Korea may be ready to perform another ballistic rudal testing after three previous launchs in 1998, 2006 and this year. Pyongyang said that their last launch on 5 April to place a satellite to orbit, while the U.S. and allies claimed that the launch was slightly obscured because theoretically Taepodong-2 rudal could reach the Alaska.

U.S. Defence Secretary Robert Gates said the additional defences around Hawaii consist of a ground-based mobile missile system and a radar system nearby.

Together they could shoot an incoming missile in mid air. "Without telegraphing what we will do, I would just say... we are in a good position, should it become necessary, to protect Americans and American territory," Gates said.

Japanese Defense Ministry believes that North Korea may now be planning to launch rudal Taepodong-2 to the island of Okinawa in Japan, Guam, or even Hawaii. However, the ministry concluded launches toward Okinawa or Guam were 'extremely unlikely' because the first-stage booster could drop into waters off China, agitating Beijing, or hit western Japanese territory.

If rudal will be shoot in the right direction to Hawaii, the parts of its propellers and boosters can fall in the Japan sea (East Sea) before other parts of the rudal is flying to the north of Japan and north America. "That steps could increase military pressure against the U.S.", Yomiuri quoted.

Japan Ministry of Defense also concluded that the "most possible" the next North Korean's experiment to ballistic rudal launch will be set to directly launch to Hawaii. However, the ministry said the Taepodong-2 that has been modified, with shoot range 4.000-6500 km, may not be able to reach Hawaii, which is located over 7,000 km from the Korean peninsula.

Protesters consider this Aroyo's initiative as a veiled attempting to lift the single-term limit on the Philippines presidency. Based on the current rules, Arroyo will be forced to step down from her position when her term ends in June 2010.

Protest actions elsewhere were generally peaceful. Some groups even tagged Charter change (Cha-cha) as a more dangerous threat to the people than the Influenza A(H1N1) virus, while others vowed to come out in even bigger numbers on Independence Day on Friday.
