The things we do for money

Sometimes you've gotta do what you've gotta do. So I've been spending an interesting few days in a clinical trial. Why? To save little bunnies from being experimented on? To give the animals a break? To help further mankind? erm, NO! MONEY, plain and simple. Yes its gotten that desperate. Now don't get me wrong I haven't sold my kidneys or anything, well not yet at least.
I applied to an ad to be used in an experimental drug for diabetes with Quintiles Medical research. Having been selected I thought from that point, I was in. Two grand for two weeks in a hospital bed, cant be that bad. As it turned out my body had other plans, apart from giving me manflu a week before I was due to go in, my triglycerides decided they were going to mess about and were in too high a range for the trial, so after a few days it hadn't gotten into an acceptable range, so I was dismissed from the trial.
"How do you feel Mr Freeman", the doctor asked - pi*%ed off, annoyed, frustrated, upset, I thought, but I responded with "it's fine, you have to do what you have to do, it was nice meeting you". Inside I shattered knowing everything that money had already allocated toward, my business, Sandra and Pitu and Emma, before leaving I checked to see if they could transfer me to another trial as I was already there and been screened, sadly not.

So what did we have to do whilst there, well to be fair the facilities were not that bad at all, Sky movies and Sky sports, a pool table, games, computer room - the computers were hit and miss on working properly. All the above is fine, when you can actually leave the ward to use them - my advice, take a laptop and plenty of movies. The not-so-pleasant side of this trial were the vast amounts of blood that was taken about every 20 mins or so, 8 vials 15 times a day, boy we were drained and how did they replenish all that blood? By giving us cold dry pasta, frozen peas and a yoghurt pot FULL of mayonnaise - which had to be eaten separately, so not nice! The meals to be honest were dire all pre-cooked and warmed up, if you were lucky and very small portions. Then not only did they want your blood but also your other waste! We had to poop in a bucket and pee in tubes, such a pleasant job for some poor guy - I really cant imagine that person at school saying to his career adviser "I want to poke around in peoples poop!" but it has a cool title as I was told, biochemical analyst, better than poop checker I guess.

The nurses were fine and for the most time pleasant, but there were very obvious tensions which I think was bad form to let the already nervous participants aware of this, one nurse actually throwing stuff on the floor in frustration/anger and openly arguing with another nurse. Not professional at all and hardly instilled us with confidence. I guess it is hard, each trial having it own criteria and nurses being drafted in for an hour then swapped others, constantly having to be brought up to speed and the same questions / mistakes happening over and over - but it is simple to address I think.

As for the brave boys who were with me on the trial there 10 of us including me. A mixed bag - all ages, races and backgrounds. A few South Africans, an Estonian, a Manc, a Scouser, a film maker, a carpenter, a guy who writes children's stories, all very interesting people and I do hope everything goes well on this study for them. Each person having there own reason for being there, and the money was it for everyone - it was frighting to consider how many people were there and what each one is paid plus the nursing costs and misc costs (nothing was spent on the meals, really) must be a small fortune which shows how much that industry is worth. Personally with unemployment rises as it is I can see this becoming a income for lots of people.

So the plus side, well I get some money for the few days I was in and I lost 1.2kg. Would I do it again? Yes, because my situation hasn't changed I still need the money as I did before. I now know what I'm getting into so I can be better prepared mentally and physically as long as you have no fear of needles, go for it :)

Gone but not forgotten

Sandra and Pitu returned to Spain again today :'(
Hopefully though the next time I see them we should be together for good.  It does mean I have my work cut out though: house, job, income, security, stability and need to be sorted within a few months, no pressure then.

Today was Sandra's birthday (I wont say how old she is, but welcome to the club), not sure if it was a good gift to be leaving the UK or not?!  It was really nice to see them again and have the support around.  Pitu is rapidly growing and speaking more Spanish than I understand, grrrrr.  But she is very funny, dont know where she gets that from?  Pitu is so lucky, she has been on a plane, many trains, and to another country and she's not even two, I was over 20 when I first went abroad.

The trip to and from the airport were long and sweaty ones, yuck!!!  I did forget though just how much I liked London though for the sheer variety of...  ...well everything.  Yes its crowded and bustling, the tubes are crammed and its expensive but it is such a cool place to just BE.

Sandra was keen to go sight-seeing so we did that and she was like a Japanese tourist (no offence meant to Japanese tourists, but you know what I mean) - so funny, of course I took my turn to grab a few shots too - there are SO many photo opportunities in London.

Sadly with all the excitement of Sandra coming over I forgot to do something really important, oops!!!
That may come back to haunt me later.  Hey ho, I have more than enough things to worry about and organise as it is.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No its SPIDERPIG!

Okay so my trip to the UK happened I arrived, no one to meet me and guess what nothing much had changed!

I went to pick up China to take her away for 2 weeks of excitement (little did I realise how much that would cost).

We went to Telford for a while, got bored after a few days - but we watched The Simpsons movie (yeah Spiderpig!) then moved onto Wales (Rhyl) spent some time there and alot of money - I can see the British coastal beaches are dying a slow death, crap beaches, expensive & outdated rides, crappy prizes (in the grabby machine things) and shitty weather 12 degrees!! (to think I left behind 42 degrees).

Anyway then we headed off to London for a week - alot of walking and sight-seeing and a few photos later we went down to Portsmouth for a few days - VERY cold and wet; sadly (perfect for Carrie to do her diving course). Whilst waiting for our coach we watched Rush Hour 3, boy Jackie Chan was SO desperate to have America ccept him, such a shame; he used to be awesome - sadly this film was as predictable as a shower scene in a horror movie!
So back to London before we head off to Leicester for our final leg of the journey.

All in all we have had fun - the weather has not been kind at all, but I did get to spend time with China and see her grow. I hope that next time she can come out to Spain and see what that has to offer; if only for the weather.

Nice to see that none of my 'FRIENDS' I contacted got in touch cheers guys ;)

I did bring back most of my DVD boxsets as Spanish TV isnt very exciting, so I have something to watch at least. Although I did have to pay a huge excess on the weight at the airport!

Well here are some pictures of her adventures

YIPEE!!! A place to call home?

YAY! I've found myself a new place to live! Sorted out all the details tonight and I move at the start of August. I'm moving into Chiswick, so closer to both my jobs by about 15mins. And the place have a garden which will be wicked for summer.
Definitely had a better feeling about it than where I am at the moment and there are less house mates, more living areas, a far more chilled out feel to it over all, so should be good for me. Its alos only 15mins walk to Chiswick High Street and about 8mins walk to the river with lots of pubs along the edge. Looking forward to being able to invite you all around!!

Love Life and make the most of it...

beware this is a long one...

Since being back in London I have been doing a lot of thinking about life, where I am in it and where I want to be. For the past few months I have been not overly happy living in London, and about this time last week had pretty much decide was going to leave the UK and take off travelling again for a few months, decide what I want to do in life, where I want to do it, and who (if anyone) I want to do it with. Heck I'd even bought a ticket back to Spain with Dade when he flies back after his two week trip here in August. I thought i was set, just plans to firm up, money to save...Still a lot of stress involved, since everything i wanted to do would cost a bit, but hey, I could work my guts off (harder) and make it happen like i always do. Some of you with eagle eyes may even had seen, for a brief moment a post on this blog hinting at my plans and with 6 goals i wanted to achieve by the end of the year...

Then something triggered a moment of clarity and it suddenly dawned on me it was the situation i had put myself in that was getting me down, stressing me out and by constant thinking that i didn't want to be here, i was not giving my job or London a chance. Basically for the past six months I've been so busy looking forward and planning and wanting more exciting things that i have been forgetting to live a lot of the time.

Add to that the fact that realistically if I took off in August I would maybe just have scrapped together enough money to survive the year but i would come out the other side of it with 1) no money 2) no job 3) no visa for the UK and would probably have set myself back to where i was a few year ago... Yeah i would have experienced and seen amazing things, but those things are not going anywhere... and to be fair i have not really experienced all that the UK has to offer.

So, I've decided to stay and make a proper go of it here. I have a good job, with potential to develop in it, i just hadn't been giving it anywhere near my full potential. I had a steady income from working two jobs, and with careful management i will be able to pay of debt, save and have a life at the same time. I just have to remember to live a little and not get bogged down in all the negatives of it all...

So here is my updated list of goals...

1. Take some time for myself, do the things I've always wanted to do and stop living for the approval of other people.
2. Learn to just chill and relax - not to think so much and slow down and give each day the attention that it deserves.
3. Learn to dive.
4. Discover and make the most of what living in London means.
5. Give my all to my job, gain valuable work experience and take every opportunity they offer. Learn from the pros there.
6. Learn a new language.
7. Spend Christmas with those who mean something to me (though admittedly I can't entirely control the outcome of this one - what are YOU up to a Christmas??)

They are pretty much the same as the ones i had made this time last week as surprisingly i have found with an open mind i can achieve my dreams whether here or elsewhere in the world... Plus if i stick it out for another year, i can continue the progress I've made financially, so that I can realistically take off travelling and discover the rest of the world, whilst not crippliing myself again, plus i might even be able to secure my working future in Europe...

Since I've made that decision its like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, and the constant knot at the base of my neck has slowly started to unwind...

Will finish this here for now, but stay tuned for updates of how I am going...

Missing in action

Okay so I've been gone for some time, did you miss me??

So what have you been up to I hear you cry... ...well I stood in a queue for 12 hours, that's right count them 12 HOURS. In order to get a National Insurance number boy Spain works slowly. So I finally managed to get to the front of the queue, only to be told I need to pay money to the bank to get my card, OK no problem (i thought) only it was, it was a holiday for the next three days in Spain and the banks were closed, the two days it will be open I was going to be in Portugal (though i didn't know that at the time!) and t
hen the next two weeks I have 2 camps back to back so yet another month without payment looms!?! Fingers crossed all will be well though...

However I did have Carrie fly all the way from London to join me in the queue - yeah I know how to treat a girl!
Caz says... I could say something soppy here, like 'Standing in a queue with you is nothing and better than being apart" but in fairness, it was just wet, cold and annoyed me that at the end of it I still wouldn't even be allowed a work visa! Though YES, it was great to see you, just not the way I had expected to spend our first 5 hours together after being apart for 3 weeks!

We stayed at a cheap hotel that night, and all was well. UNTIL a bloody riot broke out in Madrid at 3am. No idea what caused it but Spaniards were smashing up streets and all sorts, and the police were dressed in riot gear chasing them. It appeared on the news the following day but I still don't know the cause.

Next day Carrie surprised me with a trip to Portugal for my birthday; We arrived at the airport early - in fact we were the first to check in, then sat around chatting close to our gate (at least we thought) then we starting to make our way to the gate thinking it must be ready to board only to our surprise hear them announce LAST CALL for our flight; they were closing the gate!!! I did a dad run (Peter Kaye will explain), to the gate to see WE were the last two to board - the plane had 10 other people on it!
Caz says... How many times have you been at a boarding gate on time, and not been allowed to board for at LEAST 10-15 later? Well this would have been the ONE time!

So that dilemma over we relaxed and later (well actually at the same time, as they are an hour ahead) we arrived in Portugal. We arrived into Faro, and we were staying in Albufeira, which is only 40kms west, jumped on an 'express' bus thinking we'd be there in no time... Well the fact that driver managed to get us stuck in a car park for 20mins, only 2 mins after leaving the bus depot could have been an indication of how things were heading... We have no idea why, or how we ended up in the car park - had the bus driver never driven this route before? It took a passing lorry (YES! in the car park!) to lead him out before we were really on our way... An hour later we got to Albufeira and headed for our hotel which was apparently only a few hundred metres away from the bus station... ...RIGHT!!

After 2.5 hours and numerous rouch sketch maps drawn by locals, we found the hotel only to be told they had closed (reason unknown) and we had been upgraded to a different one - she drew another bad map explaining its 5 mins away and easy to find and so we headed off again, 1 hour later and after stopping in a bar for a beer out of desperation we found the next place - thanks to the english bar lady who can give directions and can draw a decent map!
Caz says... See, the english in the resort were good for something! :-) So much for easy!

So now tired and exhausted from the travels and having seen most of Albufeira, whilst lugging our luggage around, we crashed onto the beds. Chewy says.... It was at this point Dade was pleased that I insisted we only bring hand luggage!... It turns out our original hotel was only 50m from the bus station! - the OLD one! Hostelworld you need to update the details!

So Albuferia (in the Algarve) was to be home for the next few days, but from what we had already seen, we'd seen most of it! It was nice enough but I'm sorry to say not somewhere neither of us would be keen to go again.
Caz says... among other things it was a little too quiet, and not enough to do if you weren't content on just lazing on the beach - which we can both do, for a bit, but then we need more - like snorkeling, or climbing, or the like! (Admittedly as we did not have a car we could not explore further afield, nor was it peak season, but from what was made obvious lying on the beach was the thing to do here...)

It was full of Brits who had issues with food and fashion. You know the kind of people who back home would never dream of wearing those ghastly colours or socks & sandals together, but here it was okay. The kind of people who eat huge ice creams and claim they have a thyroid issue and THAT'S why their overweight. Speaking of puddings; as it was my birthday I asked for a Apple Pie, Carrie asked for a crepe - who got the better deal!?
Caz says... the crepe was sooooo good! Strawberries and chocolate sauce, and lashings of whipped cream! Apart from that crepe though, I was rather disappointed in the food, far from cheap offerings of fabulous seafood and more like medicore british half board food! And fries with EVERYTHING! I even had fries served to me at breakfast when i ordered an omelet!

Carrie got a great sun burn, pics coming (I hope)
Caz says... not on your life! - Yes mum, it was my typical first 'burn' of the year, and yes I did take sunscreen with me! It was the wind that deceived us to how hot the sun actually was...

She took me out for my Birthday to a nice Indian restaurant, where I tucked in 'Indian style'; eating with my fingers etc. Only to hear some older guy criticising every table around him and not even discreetly - almost like he thought we didn't understand English. I heard him ask his wife "are they English?" She replied "Yes" at which point he says "and he's eating with his hands, eerrrk". He also kept criticising another table - a guy with tattoos, to be honest I was SO close to speaking out, but didn't for fear it may ruin the night, so we him to his ignorance and enjoyed our own company.

Caz says... despite our negative comments on the place, we did have a great time, and it was very relaxing not to have to be anywhere or do anything at any particular time - plus we got to spend all that time together chilling...

So after 4 days relaxing in Portugal and sunning ourselves we headed back to Madrid - not without first having one last almost disaster - we booked a minibus to take us to the airport, he was 30 minutes late which only made things look like a repeat performance.
Caz says... we had thought paying the extra 4€ and saving us taking 3 buses and 2.5 hours was worth it! But in the end our Portuguese driver drove in true Portuguese style and didn't let us down and we arrived back with no complications, the flights to and from where very good (www.ryanair.com) and cheap ;) Caz says... you thought 1 penny seats were cheap, try 1 euro cent seats!

So we headed to Rob's to reclaim the rest of our cases and he kindly agreed to let us stay there as Carrie was flying back at a stupid hour the next morning and I had a program the next day.

Carrie and I headed out to the Tapas meet and greet (it's where all the volunteers for Vaughantown meet) you also get free food and drink ;) After meeting the Anglo's Carrie said we had to stop off somewhere she knew?? She knows no where? Thought I. Suddenly a plot was hatching!

Anyway I deduced it was Andy, then realised he was in the south of Spain? Chris? yes, she had met Chris once and we got on well, that must be it. O Boy was I in for a shock!
Caz says... I was just impressed I'd managed to keep it all a secret so long! Do you still hate Surprises Dade?

We turned up at the station, met by Chris, then Emma, walked into the bar and there was around 20+ people there i had meet through my time in Spain, teachers I worked with, Rob and his girlfriend, Spaniards from camps, trust me this was a military operation to get three groups of people who didn't know each other together at one place to celebrate my Birthday, I couldn't have managed it!!!
Caz says... I had wanted to get you all the way into the bar before you saw anyone, but Chris's directions of, its right near Alsonzo Martinez left out the bit about all the sides streets between the two!

I realised just how special Carrie is and what she was prepared to do, and I also felt shit because I had told her I didn't want to commit to anything because I didn't feel ready for a serious relationship with anyone and I knew that her being in London and I in Spain was very difficult for us both. I guess I need to look into just what I do want and what I'm prepared to offer, what I can say is it was the nicest surprise ever and totally unexpected and for that I thank her greatly and to all those who attended I thank you for making the effort and taking the time.

You sometimes don't realise the lives you touch and the difference you make but it's nice to know that sometimes you do get to see just how much people care.
Caz says... And you are worth caring about, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADE!

Ironic or simply Climate change…

I don’t normally like talking about the weather, and don’t even normally look at forecasts as I figure what the weather is going to do the weather is going to do and knowing in advance doesn’t always help anyway since half the time the forecasts are wrong anyway!

BUT

I couldn’t help giggling when I read in a free London paper on the tube last night that the following has been predicted for London:

The BBC aren’t quite as optimistic, but their forecast still backs London being warmer, and sunnier, than Madrid!

Hmmm, now I thought one of the plus sides of moving to Spain was to escape the fickle English weather for a climate more amenable and predictable….

...Meanwhile, back in London...

Compared to Dade’s adventurous weekend, mine seems rather dull. But I wanted to post something so you know I am still around… (since this is carrie-dade.blogspot.com after all and we are still Carrie & Dade, despite the annoyingly obvious physical distance which separates us for the time being…)

As usual, whilst major upheaval is going on in my mind and life, the world just keeps ticking by as dependable as a best mate, but a lot less sympathetic…

Since Dade left 37 hours ago (I am NOT counting I just know what time he left! HONEST!) I’ve worked 3 shifts at the restaurant, all of which were unusually quiet – it seems that the entire population of London has left for Easter – not that I blame them, the weather has been amazing and I was feeling rather jealous of Dade being in Spain and near the beach (until I read his blog update that is!)… Whilst I’ve been out slaving, our ever considerate housemates have unfortunately not left London for Easter however but have instead been staging a mammoth drinking session, which still continues…. We are on night 4 now but I am not even going to go into my feelings on that subject! My only respite this evening is, though the beer is still flowing, their heads seem a little more sensitive than previous evenings so the music is not rocking the house. YAY, I may be able to actually sleep! (Dade, you’re not the only one who had a sleepless night last night!)….

ANYWAY! This is not meant to be a negative blog entry, as negativity gets us nowhere… So here are three thought that I am focusing on right now…

“Whatever does not destroy us makes us stronger“
(Did not want to use this one, wanted something a bit more poetic, but nothing else actually sums this up as well!)

SO…

“Our real problem, then, is not our strength today; it is rather the vital necessity of action today to ensure our strength tomorrow.”

AND FINALLY…

“Nothing is difficult in the eyes of a lover”

A Fresh Start

Well the day started early yet again on Saturday, I hate mornings. Got the bus and noticed that I only had £2 left on my Oyster card, oops. Anyway got to tube station and managed to go through the barriers that open for prams – just hope I get the same option when I get off, and I did, result!

So onto the coach which wasn’t where I thought it would be; and I only had 5 minutes to find it!! So off I go, found it and nothing there! NO!!! Then it shows up, phew.
Only he just sat there, didn’t open the doors or even confirm he was my coach, 10 minutes passed and I knocked the window he just waved at me!?! Then after 20 minutes (at which point we should have left 20 minutes ago) he opened the door and allowed us to board, I breathe a sigh of relief – but wait somethings amiss? He didn’t get back on the coach and I hear whispers that the coach has a leak, and he needs a new part! This is not going to plan.

Another 20 minutes later the part arrives and we head off now 40 minutes late!
I get to the airport within my check in time, so have no queues, nice! Check in my new case which was supposed to be 20kg mine weighs 24kg (I pretend not to notice, as does the check in guy) it goes through no charges no complaints, which is just as well as my hand luggage was weighing around 10kg, lol.
I check in my hand luggage, left the hard drive in the bag, so it got rejected and opened, decks of cards spilled out, the guy just looked at me, I grinned. I took out the drive and put it through again, he picked up the bag (with a struggle) looks at me! I replied I checked it in. He accepts this and it goes though no problem. I board the plane and finally set off to leave London behind, perhaps for ever.

We touch down in Vallencia nice place, but overcast with rain clouds, and no beach in sight!? It appears we are a good 5k+ in from the coast! Dam! So I set off to find a hostel or pension. I find a few, FULL! FULL! FULL! EXPENSIVE! Oh no I think. Then I get one, almost right near where I started which is just my luck to walk around in a big circle, lol. So I have somewhere to shack up for the night. I go exploring, Vallencia seems expensive with designer shops on every street. As I idly go about my business the police raid a street where street traders are selling pirate goods, im caught in the midst of bodies running in every direction, there goods being thrown to the ground as they flee. I quickly get away before the question me or worse.

Put my head down for the night and wouldn’t you believe it – the hostel is noisy and loud, sleeps broken, so I decide to get an early start to Madrid, only to find that ALL the tickets are sold on all 5 trains today!! Oh no!! I quickly think as I try to find an alternate route, and I get one – its round the houses abit but it gets me there at least, well I say that – im currently typing this out on the train to Madrid.

I've arrived in Madrid just over 4 hours later, found the hostel Los Amigos (sign says full!) but i take a chance and ring it anyway, they have two spaces, sweet! I check in for what could be home for the next few weeks if i dont get myself somewhere to stay. I may need a few favours from the Spaniards I've met so far (hint hint)!

Life, Love & Happiness

We spent our last weekend seeing another part of London and discovered a Museum. Not a huge fan of museums but they do have some interesting things in most of them so worth a look - even better is it was FREE! - gotta be done then huh!

I met up with a dear friend from Sky, Janine. We walked and chatted and as I say stumbled across this Museum (The Victoria & Albert Museum). So we all piled inside and to be honest I was impressed with what they had there - considering my last visit to the Tate - im sorry but a blob of paint is NOT ART!!!!

Anyway, we looked around then Janine had to leave, I do hope she stays in touch through any means, and I too will try - but life seems to get in the way and before you know it its been months since you last spoke. I guess that s just the way it is!? I saw one of my best friends online the other day and immediately questioned why he'd not been in touch - and even though I had sent an email and text I could have done more myself.

Is the purpose of friends to be there and share the moments that matter with you?! We went out last night to one of Carrie's friends birthday party (shes a thirty-something). It was a pleasant enough experience and a good time seemed to be had by all, but i cant help thinking: what are we all searching for and would we know if we had it!? But one thing that did stand out was the fact that most people that cared enough made the effort to share her moment (even though Carrie is poorly just now).

I think sometimes we sweat the small stuff too much and miss the bigger picture - when there is no turning back we should concern ourselves only with the best way to move forward.

anyway below is a few of the things we saw that I thought I'd share.

Is it a bird? Is it a Plane? ...

Whilst most of us have been sleeping or working, a comet called Comet McNaught has been making its way across the skies.

Comet McNaught, which is set to shine brighter than the planet Venus this weekend, was caught on camera at sunset when it is at its best.

The newly discovered comet, first observed in Australia last August, is three times more dazzling than Hale-Bopp in 1997. Tomorrow the star will sweep within 15.8 million miles of the sun and continue glowing until Monday.

These are some of the views of the brightest comet for 32 years. For a comparison this is a camera shot from New Zealand a friend sent and one from London I found.

Apart from all the heavenly activity this week has been quite quiet. Busy doing nothing, you know the sort of days - you seem to be always on the go, but at the end of the day you have nothing to show for it?!

However we are getting quite familiar with London now, and I have bought some cool black Jewellery for my piercings.

We met up with two friends on Saturday from our "Vaughan Town experience"; Pete and Clare which was really nice. Clare shown us the delights of a Kiwi cafe where they serve you flat whites!! why dont they just say coffee?!

Anyway on wednesday we are off Scuba diving so look out for the report on that one ;)

Be good and I may see you real soon.

London by foot

Well the Birthday bash was cool, we started in a pub across from us and was shortly joined by an elderly gentleman. As we sat there minding our business the gent started to twitch!
Weird huh! Well it got weirder - he then seemingly developed TORRETS!
He sat there trying to snap his fingers to the music well out of sync, we sat there trying not to draw attention to it, but boy did he manage the job by himself, by growling at us or walking around as batman!?

We were later joined by several of Carries friends and then moved onto the Thai restaurant, which was nice that is until Carrie nearly burnt the place down with her napkin!!!! :S

Anyway the following day we visited the Tate Modern Art Gallery - and was very unhappy that we couldnt go down the slide (they were way cool too 5 stories high), well we could but it meant queing for silly time, the gallery was full of wonderful and not so wonderful art pieces.

Really China you could make a fortune doing art now because some were nothing short of madness - either splats or just simply canvas in one colour!?! thats art?? really??

But some was wicked. This is a pic we managed to take and then got told off - we then had to escape being chased by several guards and a lion! no I lied sorry, there was no lion it was a tiger!!! oops I did it again (ala britney).

Anyway I couldn't help but smile when I saw this. See how long you can look at it without the need to smile.

We then walked (for miles, no kidding) around London, visiting Tower Bridge, London Bridge the Millenium Bridge, Westminister Bridge, Waterloo Bridge, Blackfriars Bridge - it would appear we are bridge spotters!!! eeekkk!! lol!
Anyway we found lots of chewing gum splats! (private joke), we walked along the Queens walk and didn't see her, so went to visit Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Houses of Parliment,
Westminster Abbey & the London Eye (which was nice ;) )

Then went shopping around Covent Gardens - watched a Magician and a Juggler. Visited China Town again, which at this point we were starved and feeling tired this didnt help. We resisted the food - which was REALLY hard! :(
We arrived home tired and hungry - but was well worth the effort!!

On our travels

Well today was cool, not only did we start and finish in London but in between we stopped off at China and Russia!!! Well Chinatown and the Russian Festival in London that is, lol!

We had a busy day taking in the sites and sounds of London's centre. Spent quite some time in Camdens market getting lost in the small alley ways and many stalls, each selling their own wares, some really nice stalls out there too.

Only thing is why is it the one thing you want is always so expensive, lol. Anyway life is still moving forward and i will keep you informed as we go along.

Be good and keep smiling ;)
