Ecospec Global Technology Creates CSNOx System to Reduce Carbon Emissions

ECOSPEC CSNOx System
According to a report released by Inodesia's Bureau of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi dan Geofisika / BMKG), in 2009, carbon emissions rose sharply as much as 10ppm to 382ppm (parts per million) from 372ppm.

These figures are alarming. The reason is, when matched with the figures released by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the rate of growth of global carbon emissions per year in 2009 only equal to 1.61 ppm.

Increasing population, economic growth and the absence of significant anticipatory measures, carbon emissions in this country will continue to rise. At this growth rate, Indonesia would not be able to fulfill his promise to the United Nations to reduce carbon emissions by 26% in 2020.

Ecospec Global Technology, a Singapore-based technology and research company try to offer solutions. Through a new system that is named CSNOx, Ecospec managed to deliver a system that can efficiently remove sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) from exhaust.

For information, SO2 and NOx emissions are contained in large vessels, power plants, factories and industrial processing. The technique used by Ecospec can also press the carbon dioxide (CO2) in large numbers simultaneously.

"This technology is important for terrestrial and marine industry globally," said Chew Hwee Hong, Founder and Managing Director Ecospec, in his statement, 29 September 2010. "This technology can eliminate the harmful emissions in a single process and can be installed in all types of ships," he said.

The system is named CSNOx using water as medium. Not only reducing gas emissions that contribute to climate change and air pollution, a process that is ran by CSNOx achieved without the need for chemicals or additives materials, and do not result in acidification of the sea, or produces by-products that need to be stored and disposed.

Six Students Graduated From Greenpeace University Indonesia

Greenpeace, Thursday 3 september 2009, held a graduation ceremony for six students who are following the three-month Greenpeace University, the first training program for young environmental activists in Asia. The three-month Greenpeace University Program followed by six potential youngsters from all over Indonesia with diverse backgrounds.

Initially, Greenpeace University had opened opportunities for young people interested to join on June 15, 2009. Then, six students were selected received some training in the Office of Greenpeace Jakarta to make them as the proficient environmental campaigners.

"In the midst of the threat of growing climate change, the future of this planet depends on the success of efforts to stop the exploitation of the environment. We hope this program can contribute to the aspirations of these young people to become instruments of change," said Von Hernandez, Executive Director Greenpeace Southeast Asia.

The students have received training on all important aspects of the operations of Greenpeace, including campaigns, research, communication, action, and fundraising. The program is designed as a neat combination between theory and practice, combined with inputs from experts both internal and external, and engaged in real works. The students were then asked to develop their own campaign projects that can help Greenpeace actions in Indonesia.

"This program helped me to understand how to build an effective campaign and what is needed to support the campaign in the long run. I also learning a lot of how to maximize existing resources on Greenpeace and works with great potential that existed outside the organization," said Azzahra Hanifah, one of the graduates.

Greenpeace activities in Indonesia is part of global action to combat the worsening impacts of climate change. Greenpeace's Pressure in Indonesia is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions drastically.

Indonesia is the third largest producer of greenhouse gas emissions in the world, caused majorly by high rates of forest destruction, Indonesia also stated as one of the most vulnerable country affected by climate change such as rising sea levels, droughts, floods, and the failure of agriculture.

Earth Hour 2009, Reduce The Impact Of Global Warming

Earth Hour 2009 Global Warming

Global campaign to reduce the impact of global warming will be held in the form of a global movement to turn off the lights. This year, the campaign will be named "Earth Hour 2009", and will be done simultaneously Saturday March 28. The entire population of the world invited to turn off lights for one hour from 20:30 until 21:30 o'clock. Ensure that all electronic equipment that is not used in the condition of power off not just on stand by.

In a message written in the official Earth Hour site motored by the WWF (World Wildlife Fund), mentioned that "The target is to reach one billion people, more than 1.000 of the cities, and unite together in the global effort to show that all is still possible to take action on global warming," Jakarta, has included to one of the city that ensure to participate in this program.
WWF Indonesia estimate, if the entire population of Jakarta turning off the lights for one hour, enough to spell needs 300 MW of electricity. This will also reduce the burden of Jakarta electricity costs around Rp 200 million and reduce carbon dioxide emissions around 284 tons.
