Evolution of marketing

For a while now I have been looking out for smarter ways to market products and engage with people. One of the most successful recently was 'the dream job' here is T-Mobiles attempt; which I must admit I really like it - kinda evolution of dance meets improv everywhere, good for you guys!

African Dance United Nations, more or less

Again another programme finished, but no time to relax or take a breath, as I have to get ready to start again, but before I do, what happened this week?

We had a great mixture of Anglo's - surprisingly quite a few Americans even with the price of airline tickets just now. Old and young people which made for good conversations for the most part. However I did hear from some, that they were not as satisfied as they ought to be!?

Upon further discussion it appeared that certain expectations were not meet either by us, the hotel or by the Anglos? i.e. Anglo's didn't offer enough to talk about or Anglo's didn't have particular field expertise.
OK they may not work in the same field as you but they still have life experience that you can talk about and normally you can connect on some level :S
Also YOU can instigate a conversation, change topic or request a subject, so do so ;)
I think the objective was lost somewhere along the way, even after being pointed out at the beginning. Hopefully this was a one off situation and wont happen again - but if it does I'm ready with conversation starters to get things underway ;)

There was also several issues with the hotel and food served, which we will look into as service needs to be at a high standard, the hotel is still new for us and working very hard to sort these issues as they arise, so I guess they wont be issues for long!

Sadly, one individual was advised that he wasn't able to continue on the following weeks programme, due to his input on this one. He took this issue as a very personal attack, casting a lot of aspersions on several people's characters and using VERY threatening behavior - this of course cannot be accepted, so he had to leave the programme.

That issue aside the program did what it says on the tin, but with a little extra varnish! Due to your input, the week is intense, but we did have a lot of fun. I'm sure when you reflect back, you will realise the progress you made - the problem as always, is you can never see it yourself, but it IS there.

I do hope you keep up the English practise and if you need any assistance or guidance call, txt or email me ;)

Tired and battered but not beaten!

Well my week is over - and very tiring it was too!!! hehehe

Over the past week, we managed to do a lot of theatre, presentations, peotry, singing, dancing, karaoke, quiemada, party and on top of ALL that I had to be an Anglo too!!!
But it was alot of fun. The Spaniards again came wanting to get as much from the program as they could and I really hope they did.

I noticed this week - maybe because the sun and summer is coming, that the holiday attitude is creeping in from some of the Anglo's - I need to ensure this doesn't get in the way of the program, I am going to work on conversation topics - so there is no excuse to be unable to speak about something.

Highlights for me:-
"What a Nightmare" sketch - awesome job guys!
The photos are wonderful of Mr Saturday Night Fever ;) ,
the Sevillanas dancing,
Fransisco's drunk sketch
and the confidence which you ALL gained - congratulations !!!!!

Dylan never got to leave the case this week which I think saddened him, there was simply no time to him to act :'( (must make more time)

Anyway well done to you all and the time we shared can be remembered by clicking the folder below

Back where it started

This week I decided to go back to Vaughan Town as an anglo just as I started one year ago - since then I have done 20 programs, and have enjoyed each of them, its good to see how much I've grown looking back.

The week was full of talented people from all over the world and each person participanted fully, which made the week fly by - as usual it hard to say goodbye at the end but there were a few 'master' students who I'm bound to see again as they have to do 4 programs before they finish.

So what did the week have install? Well we did a Christmas theme Vaughan Town - Marissa read Twas the night before Xmas in Spanglish! We had carols, a Xmas tree and eggnog!

I did my dance in a mask which was very funny - got a standing ovation; but nearly died in the process as i couldn't breath - and trust me doing 48 dances in 6 minutes you NEED to breath!! hehe - but it was SO worth it. Having thrown down that gauntlet Rob had to pull out something big - no not that!!!!

He did a portrait of yours truly in 5 minutes!! and it was awesome: its now on my wall at home - this was his present to me for Xmas which got me a little teary. Rob being Rob also gave something to everyone else - A VIRUS!!! This time it was just the flu - the antibiotics cleared up the other one ehh mate!?! (just kidding)

As usual the photos of the week are HERE

Where ever you are from - Feliz Navidad - Merry Christmas - Joyeux Noël et Bonne Année!

Gredos - Program 47

Another program done and dusted, it seems to be getting easier each time - although there are always exceptions!!

This week was action packed - quite slow to start off but picked up quickly. As usual a good mixture of Anglos and Spaniards, and most of them willing to participate in one thing or another. I saw from this week however that I have to work harder to start cliches forming - as once it had started there was no way of breaking them up! Which I found was a slight issue in bringing the 'whole' group together.

The entertainment sections went over very well, and yet again I tried some of my new material and I'm pleased to say it worked! It's always good when that happens, so time off well spent, I think. Just to push things even more I actually managed 45 dances in 6 minutes this week!!! It nearly killed me, but I enjoyed it alot! I may post a video, it depends :S

In a team building exercise - most of the messages left for me were "hard on the outside but soft inside", yeah I am a bit, but don't tell everyone!!!

Well like a fine wine I'm getting better with age (or experience anyway), although it helps to have such a great Director - she does the hard work really ;)

Anyway as usual photos of the week are HERE

Day 5

Carrie and I had a long discussion over what my options were and what I wanted to do, she agreed that it was up to me to pursue the possibility, so I did; I await the outcome.

We watched the Spaniards today as they brushed up their grammar and presenting skills as they needed to do a presentation to the group about any topic they saw fit.

It was great to see the confidence shine in them and too see just how far the had come since day 1, some Spaniards didn’t believe this to be the case for themselves, but could see it in the others. Each person (Anglos & Spaniards) had taken on a great journey and I’m please I could accompany them and glad they were there with me.

Dinner time – my last chance to get apple pie! – I begged and pleaded in Spanish with the waiteress but alas no pie; just a final flan, I stomped my feet like a big kid! When I told her I didn’t like it she replied (in Spanish) “I don’t like ketchup!!” I think she thought I was American! We all just laughed.

Later that evening we had a party – and I learnt that yet again I couldn’t dance, I really should learn! So I took the opportunity to snap away at the dancers and my alcohol inebriated friends, which was funny, Phil can really move!

I found this and thought it was worth sharing, made me smile anyway. I was forced to sit through the whole movie by Adams mom (Helen) at Christmas, so I'm not complaining ;)

Nice edits though I thought. enjoy

SOME AIMS FOR MY LIFE
I've been thinking recently that life & times ticking by and it feels I don't have much to show for it.
It's weird but when you move so often and you can pack everything up in 30 minutes into a few boxes its quite surprising what little you have for all your hard work and effort.
So I thought I should have some aims for my life and these are a few for me to focus on for now, as I achieve them I will happily share the story with you.
To write a book
To travel more of the
world
To live instead of feeling like im just
existing
To s
kydive
To meet more people and make more
friends
To start my own business and see it
through
To make a difference in the
world
To learn to
dance
To be more
positive
To be financially
dependant
To be a better
person
To learn a language fluently
To get into the Guinness Book of Records

Thought for the day:
if you cant solve a problem its because your playing by the rules
