Riau Islands Authorities Find Rp4 billion Drug Package

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Customs officials in Batam Port, Riau Islands Province found 3.942 kilograms of methamphetamine package in a baggage coming in from Malaysia and arrested a male passenger.

Officials found the package hidden inside the freezer wall of a cold storage device, part of the personal luggage, of a 40 year old male from Johor Baru. Head of the Customs office at the post Heru Setioko said, the suspected smuggler arrived on Widi Wxpress II boat at Batam International Ferry Port on Friday (12/2) morning local time.

The package was identified through x-ray and authorities said the drug was ordered by a Batam resident. Police estimated the drugs value at Rp4 billion.
